Deputy Minister of Justice Arpine Sargsyan participated in the session of the Council of the “Accountable Institutions and Protection of Human Rights in Armenia” project.
Arpine Sargsyan made a welcome speech, where she referred to the three main components of the program: human rights, police and constitutional reforms.
Sargsyan presented the works carried out in the field of human rights and highlighted the work of developing the 2023-2025 strategy with the support of international partners. The importance of the e-rights.am electronic platform, which greatly contributed to the work of the national strategy for the protection of human rights and the resulting action plan, was emphasized.
The deputy minister also referred to the initiatives implemented in the field of juvenile justice, including the pilot project of the Barnahus model in Yerevan and Kapan, which is implemented with the support of UNICEF and the financing of the European Union.
Sargsyan also presented the reforms implemented in the police sector and emphasized that the package for the creation of the Ministry of Internal Affairs was presented at the Government session, which was approved by the executive body.
Arpine Sargsyan also referred to the organization of the constitutional reform process with the support of the United Nations Development Program, including the support of the secretariat of constitutional reforms, the organization of the meetings of the constitutional reform council and commission, public discussions and partial financing of the activities of the commission members.
The permanent representative of the Armenian office of the United Nations Development Program, Natia Natsvlishvili, and the head of the cooperation department of the EU delegation in Armenia, Frank Hess, emphasized the existing cooperation and expressed readiness to continue it.
Tigran Dadunts, director of the “Legislation Development Center” fund of the RA Ministry of Internal Affairs, Anahit Abrahamyan, head of the international legal cooperation department of the RA Ministry of Justice, also participated in the session.
The “Accountable Institutions and Human Rights Protection in Armenia” project is funded by the European Union (EU) and implemented by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), UNICEF, the United Nations Population Fund and the OSCE.
