December 18, 2021, 10:00 – News – Armenian President Armen Sarkissian received the newly appointed UNICEF Representative in Armenia Christine Vaigand, reported the press service of the President of the Republic.
President Sarkissian congratulated Christine Weigand and wished her every success, expressing confidence that she would use all her energy to implement effective programs for children in our country.
Christine Vaigand presented to President Sargsyan the programs and long-term plans implemented by the Armenian office of UNICEF, noting that the office will continue to cooperate with government agencies and stakeholders so that children in Armenia can live, develop, get education, increasingly enjoying these rights and being fully protected.
The interlocutors stressed the importance of projects aimed at caring for children’s health, promoting a healthy lifestyle, providing education and social protection. They stressed the importance of creating a level playing field for all children. President Sarkissian also spoke about the problems of children in border settlements, suggesting that they pay more attention to them.
An exchange of views took place on the implementation of joint projects together with the Office of the President of the Republic.
Christine Weigand also highly appreciated the activities of the President’s wife, Nune Sargsyan, as UNICEF’s Emergency Defender of the Rights of the Child.
