Numan Kurtulmus, deputy chairman of Turkey’s ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP), spoke at a meeting with Tahir Budakov, deputy chairman of the ruling Yeni Azerbaijan party in Istanbul, about the 44-day war, the current situation and expectations from Armenia.
“We want Armenia to support the peace in the Caucasus not in the direction shown by the Armenian lobby, but in the interests of the Armenian people living in Armenia. Because the direction of the Armenian lobby in France and the USA and other places is different, the reality in Armenia is different. From this point of view, it became obvious that the support shown to Armenia by some imperialist countries to confuse the Caucasus did not yield any results.
“Therefore, the establishment of a platform for resolving their issues, which was put on the agenda by Azerbaijan and announced by our President during his visit to Baku, is a step towards the welfare of all countries and the future stability of the region,” he said.
Kurtulmuş also spoke about the multifaceted support provided by Turkey to Azerbaijan during the war and the ongoing unprecedented cooperation, emphasizing that as a result, relations between the two countries have reached a new level. He added that the signing of the “Shushi Declaration” opened a new period in the relations between their countries.
